"Silica N HR" is a high purity Silica 60 with a surface area of 500 m2/g, mean pore size of 60A, specific pore volume of 0.75 ml/g, and particle size of 5-17um. The TLC plates contain UV254 fluorescent indicator. This analytical soft layer is bound to a plastic support. It has a thickness of 200um and dimensions of 5x20cm. There are 50 plates per pack.

These silver nitrate impregnated silica gel plates are for argentation chromatography. They are impregnated with between 5% and 20% silver nitrate which modifies the separation characteristics of the adsorbent layer to permit increased discrimination of certain compounds, particularly those containing carbon-carbon double bonds. They are available with or without a fluorescent indicator. NOTE: The concentration of silver nitrate (5, 10, 15, or 20%) must be specified at the time of order. The most common concentration is 10%.

Applications include: terpenes, alkaloids, steroids, aliphatic and aromatic compounds. To ensure sufficient adherence an inert organic binder is added to the aqueous suspension for coating. The aluminum oxide layer has a specific surface of about 200 m2/g (BET) and a pore size of about 60A. To activate the aluminum oxide layer, we recommend heating the TLC plates for 10 minutes at 120C.

This thin layer chromatography (TLC) plate comprises a C18-W (Wettable) Silica layer. It can be used in both normal phase or reversed phase separations with eluents from anhydrous solvents to mixtures with high concentrations of water. The relative polarity of the eluent determines the polarity of the layer. The Silica 60 has a surface area of 500 m2/g, mean pore size of 60A, specific pore volume of 0.75 ml/g, particle size of 2-10um, and pH stability of 2-10. The TLC plates contain UV254 fluorescent indicator. The UV-absorbing substances appear as dark-blue to black spots on a light - blue background. This analytical layer is bound to an aluminum support. It has a thickness of 150um and dimensions of 5x20cm. There are 50 plates per pack. This TLC plate contains a layer with channels. Each channel has two adsorbent zones. The Channel-plate has 19 channels which help to prevent cross contamination of samples. The first zone is a standard grade Silica 60 with a surface area of 500 m2/g, mean pore size of 60A, specific pore volume of 0.75 ml/g, and particle size of 5-17um. The second zone is diatomaceous earth. This zone is completely inert towards a large number of compounds. The samples always form a narrow band at the interface of the two adsorbents, irrespective of shape, size or position of the spots in the concentrating zone. Separation then takes place in the silica gel zone. The TLC plates contain UV254 fluorescent indicator. This analytical hard layer is bound to a glass support. It has a thickness of 250um and dimensions of 20x20cm. There are 25 plates per pack.

Preparative TLC plates have adsorbent layers thicker than the 250 micron layers normally used for analytical separations. Thus, preparative plates can be used for separation of larger quantities of materials. The loading capacity for a given degree of sample component resolution increases roughly as the square root of the increased adsorbent layer thickness. In preparative TLC, materials to be separated are often applied as long streaks rather than spots.
